Join us for Next Level Literacy Conference, a dedicated event for adult educators, tutors, and program coordinators, presented by LearningQuest in partnership with the Stanislaus County Library.​

This conference offers a unique opportunity to network, share ideas, and gain valuable insights to enhance literacy programs and support adult learners in our community.

Day One

Engaging with Texts Before and After

Presenter: Kathy St. John

  • Struggling readers benefit from engaging with a text before reading the first word and after reading the last sentence. This session explores evidence-based reading best practices using adult new reader photobooks to enhance word recognition, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Foundational Literacy for Adult Learners: Core Strategies for Success

Presenter: Jody Kammer

  • This interactive session equips educators with essential strategies for developing foundational literacy skills, understanding Structured Literacy, and addressing learning disabilities. Participants will leave with tools to create inclusive and effective literacy instruction.

Digital Literacy Teaching Strategies

Presenter: Stephanie Singleton

  • This workshop covers digital skills, digital literacy, digital resiliency, and practical curricula while incorporating data into instruction to enhance learning outcomes.

Implementing ESL Techniques and Activities in the Classroom

Location: Board Room

Presenters: Victoria Hernandez & Juliana Sargis

  • Learn effective ESL strategies for inside and outside the classroom, including videos, journal activities, and presentations to promote learning and engagement.

Location: LearningQuest Offices
Join us for wine and small bites while networking with fellow educators and touring the LearningQuest facilities. This is a free event.

Presenter: Karen Williams, Executive Director of LearningQuest

  • Discover how LearningQuest developed partnerships with county agencies and school districts, leading to over $2.5 million in funding. Learn how to formulate your own partnership strategy.

Empowering English Learners: Essential Practices for Educators

  • Explore best practices for supporting English Language Learners in literacy development using Structured Literacy principles, scaffolding techniques, and culturally responsive materials.

Presenter: Courtney Saint Smith, LearningQuest HSE Director

  • Learn the essential elements that have made LearningQuest’s HSE program a success, graduating over 152 adults last year.
